Our Bathroom Remodel Completed!

First The Leak:
It all started one fateful August day. Matt had finished taking a shower, and yet we heard water running in the basement. Upon investigating, we discovered that the bathtub had rusted through and was leaking into the basement. Hence - the bathroom remodel had to begin...
Looking up from the basement through the hole in our bathtub.
The water damage.

The water was pouring right onto our electrical panel; luckily it didn't get inside!

The water everywhere!

Our rusty bathtub drain.

The smart people before us had built a wood frame around the window in our shower. Obviously it became moldy.

Second The Mold:
After Matt began the remodel, he opened up the wall and....
yay....mold.

There was new wood around the window, which told us that the previous person chose to cover up the rest of the mold with the shower surround without fixing or treating the mold problem.

Matt put his actual blood and sweat into this while taking out the old tile (you can see his blood on the tile!)

Matt invented his own filter out of one of my old tank tops to use on the vacuum.

Matt replaced the moldy wood, removed the moldy insulation, and painted it all with Kilz.

New shower piping installed.

New sink piping.

Jerry helping install the new bathtub.

New insulation.

Cement board

The affects of cement board.

New drywall and painted.

Getting ready to put up the Kerdi water-proofing membrane on the shower walls.

Matt tiling the shower.

Space is very limited here - Matt kept bumping into himself.

Almost done...not.

We kept 3M in business by taping each tile to the wall to stabalize it as it dried.

Matt turned our exquisite dining room into his work area - the plastic here is getting ready for his wet-saw. Our baby's crib is leaning up against the wall, waiting for its turn on the assembly line.

Enough with the tape, Matt! He's getting ready to caulk the edges.

Finally the toilet is installed on the new floor tile!

Yay, my toilet that I've been waiting for!

Third, The Finished Product:
Finally done! We chose a floor tile the same as our old tile, except with blue accents. The one thing we kept the same is our sink.

Before, we just had a plain mirror. Now, we have a medicine cabinet! Any storage in this tiny bathroom is a plus!

We have a new faucet, toothbrush holder, towel rod, toilet paper holder, and towel ring.

Looks much better than before!

Beautiful!
Yay! We're Done! As always - Great work, Matt!
